Apple joined the mobile gaming world in 2019 with the release of Apple Arcade. The tech giant's game subscription service gives customers access to hundreds of games, which can be played on iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Mac and Apple TV devices, for $5 (£5, AU$8) a month or $50 a year.

Apple Arcade's catalog is designed for users to browse easily, rather than trying to browse the App Store's thousands of games and apps. Apple says that's part of the reason it created Arcade, which it calls the world's first gaming subscription service for mobile, desktop and living rooms.

Is Apple Arcade free?

No, Apple Arcade is $5 for unlimited access to its selection of games. First-time subscribers will get a one-month free trial. The offer is valid for three months after you activate your device. If you have an Apple One free trial, Apple Arcade (if you choose to include it as part of the bundle) will also offer a free trial. If you've recently purchased a new device, you can redeem a three-month free trial of the service. This offer is valid for 93 days after setting up a new device.

The subscription fee covers every game and update released by Apple Arcade - even if it's already available in the App Store. You also don't have to worry about in-app purchases.

What games are available on Apple Arcade?

Apple Arcade has more than 200 games and continues to expand its offerings. The platform also overhauled its landing page last April to better categorize its games as Arcade Originals, Timeless Classics and App Store Greats.

As far as screen time monitors go, you can adjust that in the device settings. Just open the Settings app and tap Screen Time . From there, you can customize your device in general, or more specifically for your game. To focus on Apple Arcade games, tap Apply Restrictions > Add Game > Restrictions . From there, just select the game you want to set a time limit on. Tap Next , set a time limit, then tap Add . Whoever is playing will be notified five minutes before the deadline.

Your privacy is safe on Apple Arcade. Before downloading a game on Apple Arcade, you can scroll down to "App Privacy" to review the developer's privacy policy and any data that may be collected while playing the game. For example, Sneaky Sasquatch says it may collect usage data, but it has nothing to do with your identity.

Apple says Apple Arcade games cannot collect any data about you and cannot track information about how you play the game without your consent. Find individual permissions that let you control what personal information is shared with whom.

Is Apple Arcade worth it?

This is ultimately up to you. If you're more of a console gamer and enjoy games like Call of Duty, Apple Arcade might not be for you. If you're into a more casual experience, or want the most affordable mobile gaming, Apple Arcade is definitely worth checking out.

Apple Arcade is listed among the 2021 Editors' Choice winners. For the price of one console game per year, subscribers get access to a constantly updated set of old and new games. Games can also be downloaded and played offline. The value increases when Apple starts playing games with new content already available in the App Store, and without ads or in-app purchases.

To cancel your subscription on your iPhone or iPad, follow these steps:
